I came across this set and have messaged the seller. Does anyone have any idea what vintage this is? It looks like it might be blue, however maybe it's just the lighting.
Whatcha know? Guy |

The dryer is more than likely the older perforated drum back design with a stationary bulkhead. I don’t have many complaints about those older Whirlpool dryers before 1966 however, but I will say they are a bit noisier than the later Whirlpool/Kenmore 29” dryer built after 1966 since the fan is running at a much faster speed.
In terms of drying speed/time, those older Whirlpool/Kenmore dryers dry fairly well but won’t dry very well if you were to cram a large load of laundry in it and are really meant for a 8 to 9 pound load of laundry and no more than that since with a overload load of laundry, the incoming air will just bypass the drum since the hot air wouldn’t make it to the drum since the clothes will be in the way of the inlet and such. I would keep a close eye on the fan/blower bearing and would oil it once a year to prevent it from locking up along with greasing the drum bearing once a year to keep it in tip top shape. If it’s been sitting for a long time, I would replace the fan belt since it’s a poly belt, and those poly belts don’t like sitting for a long time and the fan belt on my ‘63 Whirlpool Imperial dryer was complete toast since it was dry rotted and wasn’t even on the pulley when I pulled the rear panel off when I first brought it home last year. |

The fan assem. is BEHIND the drum on this vs. being BELOW the drum on machines made after 1966. The means it reduces the drum size. Also, the filter is smaller; almost half the size. And don't pull out that filter when the machine is running as it will blow lint out all over the place.
These two look like they're in really good condition and at over 50 years, they are rare. |

This was a very popular upper middle line washer and dryer, good performance and adequate features.
The dryer was still the older format dryer the gas version had 37,000 BTUs of trying power so it was quite fast the electric dryer not quite as fast as most other brands. The pair would make a great addition to anyone’s collection and with Proper rebuilding they actually could be good daily drivers. John |

^^ Yes. I have his set of pics saved, dated 8/1/2009. Exact same pic as above plus six more. Two pics are with a bunch of other machines, either his collection or someone else's who was offering them at the time. I haven't searched the archives for the post. The date could be a bit prior to the date I saved them. |
