I wonder why they think that it is worth so much?

Tom, I think it's because these 'Google geniuses' do a search for a vintage range or refrigerator, land on a website for a business that rebuilds and fully restores them and then conclude that meemaw's Tappan that was used to death, but kept in the shed since the housefire in '88 is "just like that one" (a fully restored one...)  that's priced at $4K.   Just like the thrift store phenomena - "These sell on eBay for $5308".  No. They saw one listing with a stupid price, not sold results.

OK... rant of the day over.... LOL

It was a beautiful explanation, fully understood and completely allowed since you did not have your Thanksgiving yesterday, but last month and now it is probably bad weather up there.

I had a 1953 Magic Chef like that, it cooked beautifully, and I paid $50 for it. The replacement burner admittedly did cost more than the range, but sum total was less than $150 for a flawless working unit.
