Couldn't have said it better.
When I worked at Elgot Kitchens and Appliances in 1978, these chrome and Bakelite beauties were, by far, the most popular models in the store. CLICK HERE TO GO TO bajaespuma's LINK

Elgot Appliances once was a staple on Upper Eastside of NYC. Lexington Avenue then moving over to Third Avenue. UES store closed a while back now Elgot is strictly online only IIRC.

At the group home I work at we have a year old Oster 4 slice toaster that works fairly well. Yesterday for lunch I served open face tuna sandwiches on toast. It took FOREVER to toast the bread, and it was more dried out than toasted. I was longing for our Sunbeam T20B. I could have made 4 slices faster in the Sunbeam than I could in the 4 slice Oster. The model and color of the one at work is pictured below.

You can't really pull enough current through 1 plug for 2 toasters I guess. Thus both toasters have to be cut down. And with toasting the same thing goes as with searing: High, concentrated heat for as short as possible. |
