Couldn't have said it better.

When I worked at Elgot Kitchens and Appliances in 1978, these chrome and Bakelite beauties were, by far, the most popular models in the store.

Wonder why a long time ago, I thought Speed Demons, sounded like Sunbeamers, so naturally mynyouthful mind made me think of mixers, just for someone to correct me, when I openly spoke this impression of what I associated a game-team with...

At the group home I work at we have a year old Oster 4 slice toaster that works fairly well.  Yesterday for lunch I served open face tuna sandwiches on toast.  It took FOREVER to toast the bread, and it was more dried out than toasted.  I was longing for our Sunbeam T20B.  I could have made 4 slices faster in the Sunbeam than I could in the 4 slice Oster.  The model and color of the one at work is pictured below.

4 slice toasters

You can't really pull enough current through 1 plug for 2 toasters I guess. Thus both toasters have to be cut down.

And with toasting the same thing goes as with searing: High, concentrated heat for as short as possible.

A residential toaster is made to operate on a 15 amp 120 volt circuit; therefore wattage is limited to 1800 or less. Commercial toasters can be purchased that operate on 20 amp 120 volt circuits, or for even faster toasting you can get ones that operate on 15 or 20 amp 240 volt circuits. Commercial toasters are rather pricey though, costing several hundred dollars for 4 slice models.
