if the newer GE low end front control dishwashers are Haier sourced? The door handle has a lift type latch which I thought GE made obsolete. Even the higher price point plastic tub model don't have it now.

I went to the GE website. I saw the new low end models. If you take a look with the door open it shows that there is the plastic striker vs a latch mechanism. So I don't think they are any different than the mid and higher end dishwashers where you pull the door to open and push the door to close.
