Check the stop lug, screw, and washer. Something down there may have loosened up or broke.
Also, verify the motor pulley isn't slipping by twisting the pump/transmission pulleys in opposite directions. This post was last edited 11/30/2021 at 21:47 |

Was the stop, washer, and screw all in place and properly adjusted? They look pretty rusted up. Make sure to apply some grease on these parts and a little inside the rubber cap before reinstalling it.

Also, Dan is it possible to get two different agitators permanently attached together? If so, do you have any idea where to go? I have an idea |

Actually, I'd like to attach an upper agitator column to a lower agitator skirt. If it can be done, I'll create something that should have been done.:D |

The rust refuses to release the helical drive shaft, Dan. It's been two days since using the oil. |

Unfortunately, the rust in the transmission pulley is refusing to release the drive shaft...although, saturated with 3 different penetrating spray oils |

The latest...transmission is leaking oil now...lying on the washer's back...holding the agitator and turning the pulley counter-clockwise after spray/soaking with 3 different rust penetrating oils...after 2 days...not successful |

Hi Harry, what on earth happened to this washer that allowed the main drive pulley to get so corroded etc.
It looks like the machine sat in 4-6" of water for an extended time for this type of damage to happen.
The shaft and pulley are greased when assembled and I have never seen one that was even slightly dry let alone rusted together, what is the condition of the rest of this washer?

This type of damage is a little unusual but something must be leaking from above,
The rusted bearing is not the radial bearing, this is a sealed ball bearing right above and set into the brake package, this bearing may also be damaged.
Try lubricating the release bearing and put every thing back together if the release bearing turns and is not too rough. If the washer works but roars at full spin speed you will likely need to replace the radial bearing and you may need to replace both.
You should watch carefully for leaks when you use this machine for a while.

The transmission spline and helical shaft are rusted...what is the best thing to use for the rusting? Is it necessary to replace the brake package?

The threads on the helical shaft and splines for the brake package are coarse so you should be able to successfully use a rust remover/dissolver.
Finding a new 200835 pulley bearing will be a challenge. You'll probably have to source a used one from a donor machine.
If your 712 was built after June 1986, replace the lower lip seal. |
