With the exception of the candy pink color, to me the square boxy-ness looks very 1970s. I'm impressed. It's only 41" wide and about 18 cu. ft. I wonder what the depth and height were.

Sorry the pics are poor quality.

Thank-you for that Bob.

The Kelvi was shorter, shallow, but F-A-T.

I've owned an 18 c.f. SxS that was only 32" wide, but it was at least 32" deep and probably 64" tall.

Todays 22 c.f. frigis are probably never more than 36" wide, but they'll be close to 36" deep and 72" tall.

And kitchen cabinets are 24" deep + 1" for the counter = 25"

Hence we have the ever annoying OVERHANG of the refrig projecting grotesquely passed the countertop edge.

Any clues on what's behind door #2 ?

It's not the ice because the maker is shown at the top of the cabinet.

That was the compressor space, comparable to the one in the first Foodarama with the banana bin by it. Was always curious about the layout of the refrigerator particularly, with the cold plate and the damp cold area up high using gravity for refrigerator cooling. Believe you can just see the cold plate behind the milk bottles.

It must have been a large compressor, or

they had it spread out from front to back vs. side to side in newer models or

They wasted a lot of space in there, or

did they have 2 compressors, front to back?

A cute SxS.

I had one once. A 70s avocado GE. No dispenser and no ice maker. I can't remember if it was 28 or 30" wide.

It was so cu-U-U-te. I could easily see over the top of it. And it worked fine. I picked it up in the mid 90s. I wish I had kept it. lol.

----

How wide is your Westy?

----

I wonder if they moved Bob & Emily's kitchen around because I remember the refrig being on the back wall. The picture I found showed it on the left. I didn't watch that particular Bob Newhart show much but I remember their frig. ...and Rhoda's, and the Bunkers, and Maude's, and the Jefferson's,....

What's behind door number 1? An unrefrigerated banana bin!
