Hello everybody!
I know it's been a while ... it's been waaaay too long ... life has been super busy for us, but we're still treasuring and using and collecting appliances! And we wanted to make a post today to share all the great major updates we've had in that department. Actually, we'll have to make TWO posts: one here for the vintage washer and driver, and one over in Super for the fridges and other fun stuff! So first of all, if you remember our coppertone 60s Maytag set we had, and the troubles we'd last had with them (the washing machine had been pretty well used and it had a lot of rusting and issues on the inside), a few years ago we finally had to say goodbye after a good loving decade of use. The bearings on the washing machine went and it had other transmission problems, and Bob our resident expert and appliance genius said it was finally time to say goodbye. It was a sad moment for sure -- we LOVED that system -- but we also knew that they were pretty well used by the time we first got them back around 2007 or so, and to have all these years of good use was a blessing. The dryer was still in good shape, so in lieu of keeping it in storage for that future day when we have some kind of outbuilding in the back run with plumbing and electricity for multiple vintage test kitchens and laundry rooms (my husband's dream, NOT mine!), it was donated to a local appliance shop where they could find it a good home. We did take some good video of it before decommissioning -- my husband is a Maytag man and still misses the quiet warm hum that the dryer would make. But ... in replacement of that set, through Bob the incredible appliance maven, we were able to get what is our all-time, absolute DREAM system: a 1972 Sears Lady Kenmore automatic washer and dryer in avocado green! Here's the photos. We even found a vintage Sears plaque on eBay and have it mounted over the laundry tub. We are in absolute LOVE with this system! |

That's a lovely Lady Kenmore set but, yes, it's 1974 or '75 model-year. The serial numbers are coded for the year and week of manufacture if you want to check that ... although you may need to look on back of the machines to find the tags. ETA: This was also the last LK model-series with a pushbutton-programmed mechanical timer. This post was last edited 12/25/2021 at 18:13 |

This is the set I rebuilt and installed inside my home as my daily drivers. Excellent machines! Congrats! Mine are 1974 model Lady Kenmores built spring of 1975.

Thanks guys!
DADoES and chaskelljr2, thanks for all the info! On the washer, the "model number" is listed on a plate inside the lid: 110.2430410. If the serial number's on the back, it must be down low because I didn't see it near the top. The dryer is much easier, it's right inside when you open the door: F43607675. Would that be made on July 6, 1975? I wouldn't think that date is right because that would have been a Sunday... pulltostart, it's vintage barkcloth, another thing we horde -- I mean collect! Nice pic, jons1077!! Ours have turned out to be swell daily drivers. Washerlover, these are probably adorable in Harvest Gold!! And yes, the PJs do almost match lol!

Thanks for the info!
Washer must have another tag somewhere else -- the one on the door only has the model.
