I think it's one of the stupidest and most pointless things Whirlpool has ever done, and for some reason they're absolutely POURING marketing into it. Meanwhile, they have by far the most advanced and unique filtering system ever put into a dishwasher, as well as the only third rack designed for glasses, bowls, mugs, etc, with dedicated spray zones, and they market next to nothing about it. No commercials, no brochures, no 3D video or parts diagrams to explain how and why it works, and why it sets them apart from the competition. It's driving me up the wall.
On top of that, this "detachable agitator" is hideous. I don't want a clunky handle sticking up inside my machine to take a way from the look of the clean round lines of the rest of the interior. And the upper auger does absolutely nothing functionally. It's this way in every brand's machines with this fixed auger bolted to the wash plate. It's there to appease the masses that won't accept a washer operating with just a well designed wash plate, and it's also there to force loading AROUND the basket, rather than dumping items directly in the center, which is detrimental to the performance of any top load wash, agitator or not. So TL;DR, it's the most foolish and ugly thing Whirlpool has ever designed, serves no purpose for cleaning whether it's in or out, and would seem to me to introduce points in the locking mechanism to snag and tear fabrics when the spiral portion is removed. |

Whirlpool would have been better off if they had some incarnation of their Surgilator and Super Surgilator in their machines which would help them perform better. If they wanted to make it removable but not have a handle sticking up from the agitator, they simply can use a agitator cap to screw and unscrew to remove the agitator which would make it look nicer.
