I've always liked these models - the colorful graphics are such a nice break from everything monochromatic.  As these get older they become harder to find as a pair.

$400 in Orlando, FL.

The color coded controls reminds of the late 50’s and early 60’s Whirlpool Mark XII’s and Lady Kenmore washers with the color coded controls. My aunt had this set and wanted to get it but didn’t have the chance sadly.

CAn anyone identify the model numbers for both? I'd love to be able to see if WP still has the manuals online I could look at.

A lot of ads these days for these older machines state that they are:

“Best set available”

“Don’t make them like this anymore”

“Built to last”

“Will outlast anything new”

And on and on and on…

I always wonder why they are selling them if they know how great they are.

Why?

Probably the ad is written by the husband since the Mrs wants new

Bob,

This one is not identical, but extremely similar, and the listing includes the model number.  You could research the availability of manual(s) using this one and get a pretty good answer to your question.

That's easy.  It's because the wife insists on new junk machines that will have issues or fail within five years or less.

There was a set like this at a cabin we rented a few years ago.  The amount of noise the washer made left a serious negative impression.   I have always considered DD machines to be flimsy excuses for their BD predecessors and that noisy Whirlpool only served to reinforce my sentiments.

I believe y’all are correct. I’ve even seen that reasoning here on this site several times where advice is sought after by the husband to keep from having to buy new.

This is the same washer I have. A freind of my wifes was going to throw it away she knew I liked older machines and asked if I wanted it. I have been using it for 4 years now. I even found a way to bring the suds water back in without using a bucket. There is mark were the agitation turns to gentle on the normal cycle, it does a dry agitate. I put the hose into the tub of water and the washer sucks the water back in. This is great washer.
