Is it possible to remove to the stop ring and reuse it without damaging it?

It's possible but a bit tricky since they tend to break with age.

I use 2 small diameter flathead screw drivers and gently coax it out of the groove.

They are still available on Ebay if it commits suicide.

So, the stop ring can only be used with Power-fin agitator?

The stop ring was originally intended for EJN wringers beginning in 1939 and was used up until Nov 22, 1983. It was used in automatics from its inception until Maytag started using the 1/4" side mounted screw in the mid 80's although you can still install a stop ring up until around the mid 1990's when Maytag stopped cutting a groove for it in the agitator shaft on the orbital models. That little stop ring had a 50+ year run.

Then I'll have to remove it in order to use the PowerFlex 12 agitator. This agitator has FANTASTIC turnover with the long-stroke Dependable Drive transmission.

Maytag automatic washer Agitator rubber stop rings

Your power flex 12 agitator has the stainless steel locking screw in it so you don’t need the rubber ring.

The load sensor agitator is far more effective in the orbital transmission washers.

I always throw these non-load sensor ones away.

My business partner Jason just bought a house with a very lightly used pair of 1992 Maytags in it, he couldn’t believe the difference when he took that agitator out and put the load sensor agitator in the washer.

The matching stream of heat dryer is also is always a disappointment it’s slow and has poor airflow.

He said they do work he’s going to use them until he gets his better machines in the house he’s remodeling the laundry room now.

I had to install a stop ring for my power-fin...it kept sliding up from the shaft during wash and rinses...plus for some reason the extra flexing from the fins started creating holes in my laundry...the loadsensor (dual action) style of agitator will always out perform most others...but, next to the power-fin, it does a really pretty great job with turnover...have a look-see, check out this video
