What's the timeframe of this ad?

JasonL (no longer on the member list) said his grandmother had a Marquette but a newer model with a Franklin-type angel-wing agitator.

It’s marked at the bottom 2-53.

That washer and dryer aren't anymore a matched set than a GE and a Norge sitting next to each other. Did this company actually make either of those machines, or were they just a distributor?

If you have access to the Search-o-lator and type in Marquette, there are many posts. I asked if anyone has seen one every time it ran so I did not this time. Greg gave a great timeline for the Beam machines that is fun to read. Actually the dryer is probably made by Beam also. It is very similar to the early APEX, Speed Queen and assorted brands.

After I had time to read the archived posts, I came to the conclusion the washer must be an Apex product due to being from 1953. I saw pictures of later (1956) models that were matching sets, evidently manufactured by Beam, and even more recent models by Franklin. There were references to Marquette refrigerators, freezers, and ranges, but no info as to what company made them. Guess it depended on the year. Maybe they were also Apex until they were out of business. I know Franklin made refrigerators, but have never heard of them making ranges.

Given location, I wonder if Coolerator out of Duluth may have built both refrigerators and/or electric stoves for Marquette.
