So I've had my eye on this one for a bit. My GE portable has a bad bearing and it howls like a banshee when I try and use it, which has led to me not putting it into service often. This beasty popped up on FB Marketplace and we finally swung by to check it out this morning.

Of course my biggest concern was the spin bearing. The gentleman plugged it in in the garage, and a moment later I could hear hardly any noise as it spun up. Sold!

Catch the number...

...on that panel!

Model WWP100NBJWH and Serial DN100053J. Could this be the 53rd of its model run?

Not sure how to decode the serial to figure out the production date on this boy.

I'm hoping to get some time to wipe her down and give a test wash tomorrow, after the machine has warmed up a bit. I might try and transplant the top of my original GE portable as it's more fully featured, but not sure the graft will take.

"DN" should translate to February 1972.

1972! Very nice. I couldn't figure that out from the chats I found online. Thanks Lawrence!

I think it's a Hitachi.

The machine cleaned up well, and I ran a load in it tis morning with no issues.

While I was water testing though, I noticed a leak. Seems that the pump has a little leak. Since I'm going to scrap the other GE portable, I borrowed its pump and we're back in business.

Glad you saved this lil GE portable washer. And it's a good thing you've got your first one for any spare parts you may need, like the pump & hopefully the control panel will work out for you too!

Doing the HAPPY DANCE for you on this side of the computer...
WOOOOO HOOOOOO!
