Hey everyone. I found this late 80’s or early 90’s Lady Kenmore/Elite set on marketplace. The seller has told me the touch pad is failing on the washer and the mix valve needs replaced. The dryer works but of course it’s the same style touchpad that are prone to failure and are NLA. I think there is only one company that repairs the boards and they aren’t cheap to have done. I love these but then want $400 and are unwilling to come down at all. Am I out in left field for not wanting to pay that? I always remember seeing these at Sears and thought they were so beautiful.

No you’re not out in left field but if you want a matching black set in decent condition cosmetically like these appear to be I’d go for it. These sure don’t come up for sale as often as they used to. If you get the board repaired you’ll have a great set. This particular set was the last version of these and are probably 1996 Kenmore Electronic 90 Series machines.

To me, that's a bit o' cash, for a washer with issues.

Had that washer in white

I ad that washer in white. I absolutely loved it. I've never owned a more versatile machine with all the bells and whistles to boot. You could customize and adjust the different cycles for your needs. I sadly gave it up when I moved. I wasn't able to take it with me.

Great Machines

Hi Dave, keep in mind that the touch panels are basically not repairable, the boards can be rebuilt in most cases but the TP is a replacement item.

We always had far fewer problems with the controls on the dryers that the washers, maybe less moisture ?

The price may be a little steep but even if you get a perfect working set things can go wrong, you have to remember you are in the luxury area and it costs more that cheaper machines to keep them running.

Oh, I think you better buy it before Darth Vader sees it and wants it for his laundry room.

These aren’t Kenmore Elite’s, Kenmore Elite’s haven’t came yet when these came out, but these aren’t Lady Kenmores either.

But these are in fact TOL Kenmores

Definitely late 1980’s/early 1990’s.

Beautiful machines any way you look at it.

My Limited Edition Set....

....was made in 1987.
I've never had any issues with the electronic controls of either the washer or the dryer.
Both have been trouble-free machines with only minor repairs (agitator dogs, dryer drum rollers).

I have the same set in Bisque, I think from the mid '90s, got them new from Sears. Only a few issues over the years, lost the Off button, just put a smart switch on it, neutral drain acted up years ago, was told by a member here it's a transmission problem. Dryer has an issue with warm starting the motor, replaced it but it continues. Added some Duets about 11 years ago as daily drivers and use the TL a few times a year to keep them lubricated.Been a really solid set, got a lot of use with minimal issues.

Definitely NOT late 80s/early 90s. The swoosh logo means 96 or later...

If I recall I bought my set either fall of '95 or '96.

I'm normally not a huge fan of dark appliances, but man that Kenmore Electronic set looks gorgeous!
