The DM machines of that era are fun machines. Good scrubbing power, but noisy as a locomotive.

The interior is similar to my family's 1968 Modern Maid/DM. Only the Modern Maid had a "Robin's Egg Blue" tub and coordinating blue racks.

Magic Chef D&M DW

Wow someone washed a lot of dishes, but it wasn't this DW for it to be in such good condition.

When we were first in business and were looking for extra jobs we installed about 20 MC DWs of this era, I still remember the insurance claims from home owners when the machines leaked and ruined floors and ceilings in rooms below.

While we were never actually at fault [ MC always came out and fixed the DWs thus admitting fault ] and our insurance never had to pay it just leaves a bad taste, for the next 30 years we would fix D&M DWs for any problem EXCEPT LEAKS it just wasn't worth the headaches because they almost always leaked again and you got blamed the next time.

This was my mom's second dishwasher only it was harvest gold and labled and Admiral.
My aunt's boyfriend worked at an appliance store and refurbished old appliances and sold them in our small town.
The Admiral was originally a portable but was made into a built in.
That dishwasher lasted a long time.
Don't remember it leaking or being really noisy. Just wished it had a third level wash.
If you picked up the cutlery container and blew through the hole in the middle it would whistle.
Not sure what happened to the Admiral but it was replaced by an Eaton Viking GE.
What a piece of crap that dishwasher was. Never one clean load in over a year.
It was kicked to the curb and replaced by a Kenmore Ultra Wash when I started working at Sears.

In one of my apartments in Vancouver, circa 1975, it had a Gaffers & Sattler dw that looked much like that. Didn't live there that long to experience any problems. I was just thrilled it had a built in dishwasher and dishwashers being noisy in that era was a given pretty much.
