Hey, fellow vintage appliance enthusiasts! This month we’ve managed to replace our broken dishwasher and stove with vintage versions. Thanks to y’all’s consistent advice, we waited for a KA dishwasher to show up in our lives. Cost a little more than I’d have wanted to spend, but at half the price of new with the functionality and aesthetics KA dishwashers of this era are famous for, it was an easy decision. And look at our new baby. Just look. Works like a dream, and the only imperfections are minor (the racks have a blemish or two)

I remember when neighbors down the street remodeled their kitchen in the early '70s and installed the exact same dishwasher -- even the color. For me it was love at first sight. Our household had a beyond basic top-loading portable with a single cycle, and that beautiful KitchenAid had a "Party" menu!
Your machine appears to have seen very little use, or water was super soft wherever it came from. In case it hasn't been mentioned here already, any KA machine through the 17 series has only a single wash arm, so it's important to load large items like pots carefully so as not to completely block the spraying trajectories.
Congratulations on a great score to complete your kitchen!
You two make a cute couple, btw. |

Looks great!
I would highly recommend installing blue tine tips to greatly extend the life of the racks. Something like this:

Also, keep on top of touching up any areas of the racks where the coating has been removed. Do it on a monthly basis, if possible. There use to be a blue touch paint that was dead on in color for these machines but I don't see it available on Ebay anymore. Perhaps someone here can help guide you. |

Baked my son's birthday cake in the P7 today, confirming functionality top to bottom now (we've used the range coils already).
I love the look of it. It'd be more my dream if it were avocado green, but this one was three miles away and the folks who posted it refused our offer of money. Hard to pass all that up after having spent a lot of money just getting the electrical ready to receive it (needed the special outlet after having a gas range) |

we have the slightly later 17 Series (1974), gotta love those vintage KAs. Dig that wallpaper too!
Too bad you're so far, we have the perfect range in matching Harvest Gold, '74 Frigidaire with Electri-Clean and Heat Minder, lighted glass panel, we'll be replacing it with a yellow '57 40" GE when the GE's restoration is done. AND a '74 Frigidaire 1-18 in Harvest Gold with lid window. Roger in NY |

The KDS16 is my favorite vintage KitchenAid dishwasher I love the styling of it and it was the peak of their quality before a lot of things started to get a little cheaper.
Also love the GE stove you can’t go wrong with it , that was a short live model with that digital clock but otherwise the stove is solid as can be definitely worth getting rid of a gas stove for that range. And I love the orange whirlpool refrigerator very cool no pun intended. John L PS I have about any part you might ever need for that KitchenAid dishwasher if it ever gives you trouble. |
