Hello Group,

Mom would like me to come over and fix her early 1970's Maytag Dryer (DE806)

Mid cycle, the dryer stopped working. She also added that the light isn't turning on in the dryer. I'm not such a handy fellow, but I'm willing to try my hand at fixing it. Any suggestions? If it needs a thermal fuse, where would I obtain that?

Thanks,

Charles

There are no thermal fuses in this dryer, maybe you’ll be lucky and the plug just worked its way out of the socket or the circuit breaker or fuse has tripped.

Other than that you’re gonna have to have some hand tools and be good with diagnosing electrical stuff you’ll need an volt ohm meter to be begin to figure out why one of these dryers won’t run.

Take a look when you visit and see what you can figure out we can try to answer questions, likely reasons it won’t run for a bad selector switch possible bad door switch possible bad motor broken or burned wire on the terminal block or cord are the most likely things.

Good luck with it

John

Hi John,

I appreciate what you have shared. I will pick up a multimeter this week. I have some deoxit at home....is it worth spraying some of the controls with this?
