Was there ever a more hated washer? The most disappointing in design? Why, oh why? Felt it was basically a Westinghouse, maybe larger capacity though. I wonder how well these held up, reliability. It would have been interesting to see a comparison in cleaning ability compared to the old design. Never again would they go back to the up-and-down agitation. Oh my!

Additional pics.  Washer's filter presumably missing?

Glenn,
That post surprised me! Perhaps reliability was better than what I remembered. That must have been a later design, agitator is different. I like the avacado green. This looks to be a TOL model.

Looks to be a Westinghouse design washer with a Kelvinator (Gibson, Hamilton) dryer, with fake Frigidaire control panels.

That agitator came out a couple of years after GM sold off Frigidaire to WCI. That agitator was called HydroSurge and believe it or not did a rather good job. My great aunt had this washer and I got to use it a couple of times back in the day. Spin speed was about 515-520 rpms if I recall so yeah the wash load head more water, but agitation was about 82 strokes or so, but it was able to turn a load over even with the tub indexing.
