Am I to infer that this is essentially a Frigidaire Wash-a-Matic? :-)

It does make you wonder if the engineers bought an Apex to play with and came up with this!

It does! I like how the pulsator is basically ornamental...but at least you do get that awesome Unimatic spin!

The tub rocked in a circle sufficiently fast enough that the action of the water between the tub and pulsator caused, well, pulsation! I like the way they added the 1 rpm spin to the basket to compensate for circular action of the wash load to prevent tangling. Wild concept!

That is fantastic! They really thought it through. I wonder if the action would have been sufficiently similar so that Apex would have had soiled Post-Toasties over the whole thing.

I guess Frigidaire could have, in turn, been a snot and pointed out that the tub wasn't fiberglass... :-)

Yes this design has some similarities to the Apex, but it is not the same at all. For one thing the Frigidaire has a stationary pulsator in the center and as Peter pointed out the wash tub rotates in the opposite direction of the wobbling which is again completely different from the Apex.

This is by far my favorite Frigidaire patent, I would love to have seen a prototype. Maybe we need to build it?

So where would you start?

Would you use a Frigidaire for the base and somehow rig the tub to rotate? Was there a washer that actually had a rotating tub?

Hi Venus. The Apex "bounce-o-matic" had a one piece tub/agitator made out of molded fiberglass. When the tub was half full, it would start bouncing.

Nope there has never been nothing ever quite like this Venus, so it would have to be made from scratch.
