Here we have a 1975 A107, 1985 A506, and 1995 Dependable Care. As well as my 5 Electrolux vacuums (all of which were formerly my grandparents’). Which Tag matches which Luxes best, would you say?

Older vac's

washers, etc. are genrally better, except in the filtering dept. Newer ones have hepa filtration, and are quieter.
You can spend about $1,500 for the Miele S8 Unique, their top model, or about $2 grand for an Aerus Electrolux Guardian, or an all steel Filter Queen, or a Rainbow.

Your Electrolux Model L definitely goes with the A107.  They're both entry level models and from the same era.   If photo 6 is a Diamond Jubilee, that would pair with the A506.  That plastic Electrolux will go with your 95 DC, although that Grand Marquis also might pair with it.

@Eurekastar I think you hit the nail on the head! The L and Super J match the 107 the best. The 3rd photo is indeed a Diamond Jubilee, and I agree that it matches the 506 - they are both from the mid 80s. As for the Grand Marquise/Ultralux, I think it could go well with either the 506 or the DC. The Ambassador (plastic one) definitely goes best with the DC I’d say, as both are mid 90s.

For me a Kirby 560 goes perfectly with a late 50’s or early 60’s Maytag set :)

I would say...

That the Super J goes with the A-107, as they were both made around the same time, and the trim on the control panel is similar to the golden color of the Super J. (Nice machines, BTW. Central dial Maytags are my favorite washers and dryers of all time, and the Super J is one of my favorite vintage Electrolux vacuums.)

I agree with you! The 107 and Super J definitely match well - both are mid/late 70s, and both have the similar gold color/trim. Center dial Tags are my favorite washers/dryers of all time too, and the SJ is definitely one of my favorite Luxes (though I love most models they made). The Model L matches the 107 best as well, I'd say.

@eurekastar

I personally prefer the basic/entry models over the top of line ones. I'm not a "bells & whistles" person, I just like something that gets the job done and doesn't cost more than what's necessary. Would you consider the 506 and DC to still be basic, or more mid-range?

@Maytag85

GORGEOUS SET! Nice Kirby too, BTW. I don't have any vacuums or w/ds THAT old, but if I did have a Tag that old, the Lux to go with it would probably be a Model S or F.

Those pictures are from the archives on AW and VL. Definitely wish I had a Maytag set like that along with a Kirby 560 and it’s beautiful mid century modern bag but am content with the 1963 Whirlpool set I have along with the 1965 Kirby Dual Sanitonic I have at the moment.

Wouldn't the Maytags match better with their own vacuums? Especially Hoover? Since there was a time when Maytag owned Hoover until they went bankrupt. And wouldn't the Electrolux vacuums fit better with Frigidaire washers? Cause Electrolux and Frigidaire definitely had some connections before.

Maytag’s and Kirby’s go together well since both companies didn’t have any radical styling around this time along with changing the styling from year to year. Maytag only updated their washers a few times from the late 50’s to 2006 and Kirby has only changed their design a few times over the years as well. To me, Hoover is the Chevrolet of the vacuum cleaner world since they had radical styling (almost like the 1959 Chevrolet) but are otherwise nice. The attachments on a Hoover are a afterthought and you wouldn’t have as much suction at the end of the hose as you would with a Kirby plus you couldn’t turn the brush roll off on a Hoover like you could on a Kirby simply by turning the belt lifter counterclockwise.

I can see where you're coming through here. Though I personally think Maytag matches better with Hoover. I agree with how some of the Maytag washers didn't change a whole lot back then, well so did Hoover. At least from their commercial line like the Guardsman, the Conquest, or the Portapower. Then the Maytag Neptunes came out at the same that the Hoover Windtunnels were released. Just like the Neptunes, the Windtunels also got recalled.
