I have a Servis Quartz 1000, model 6027 washing machine that has just stopped working, it started to make a high pitch grinding noise and now the drum has seized.

I am looking to strip the washing machine down and replace the drum bearings and seal, a job I have done before, and the last time I replaced the drum bearings and seal I used a Qualtex BKT46P kit.

I have tried to locate a Qualtex BKT46 or BKT46P bearing and seal kit, but as yet I have been unsuccessful.

It is mainly the bearing seal from the kit that I require, as I have two spare bearings, but the kit also contained a carbon seal that I may or may not need to replace.

Does anyone know if there are any other bearing and seal kits that will fit a Servis Quartz model 6027 washing machine or where I could try and obtain a Qualtex BKT46 or BKT46P kit from?

Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.

Bearing Kits

Afternoon Nigel, oh these kits are like hens teeth and as the washer is pushing nearly 40 years old is gonna be a case of search high and low, I have no kits or seals , we have been discussing sourcing bearings of the correct size from bearing manufacturers such as SKF and again carbon facing seals, the only match I could think of for seals is similar UK machine seals such as Hoover / Creda / Hotpoint kits or to look at having some manufactured ?

Let us know how you get on, Ill check with the lads in case can suggest anything else ?

Cheers, Mike

Bearing and Seals Kits

Good evening Mike,

Many thanks for your reply, it is much appreciated.

I have now stripped my Servis Quartz washing machine down and found that the drum bearing seal had split, letting water into the inner drum bearing causing it to seize.

I am still searching for a suitable seal and will let you know how I get on.

Best regards,

Nigel

Hi Nigel

I've found a spare carbon counter face seal, the part that presses onto the drum axel, or is it the carbon seal that presses into the bearing housing, I think they are the same as the Hoover 1100, at least for the metal backplate/ enamel drum models, I must have a couple of those, so hopefully we should be able to help,

Mathew

Bearing and Seal Kit

Hi Matthew,

Many thanks for your reply.

The part that I need to replace is the carbon faced sprung rubber seal that fits into the plastic drum, as it has split. The carbon counterface seal that fits onto the Spider's shaft looks to be okay, so I am hoping to be able to reuse it.

Best regards,

Nigel
