It would be more helpful to have a model number I could give more Pacific advice.
You can run the dryer mechanically and see how it sounds, when you select from air fluff to heat you should hear a click from the solenoid on the gas valve.
As Dan mentioned if it’s a model you can take the lower panel off of you should see a glow from the igniter it should come on for about a minute and then shut off that would show you that the igniter and the flame sensor working, other than that you really need to connect it to gas.
You can also make sure the timer works by setting it on a time dry cycle.
