Hello,

I am struggling to find any of them as they are no longer made.

Has anyone got any diagrams of them or is selling one?

Maytag dependable care brake removal tools

I’ve probably remove more than 50 brake assemblies from Maytag washers over the years and only a couple times did I try to use the stupid removal tool it’s easier if you just take a strong vice grip grab the edge of the brake assembly and smack it with a hammer you won’t hurt yourself this way and he’ll come loose easily.

There’s a good reason the tool is NLA and nobody is bothering to make one because it was useless in the first place.

I stopped by an appliance repair shop a few years ago and asked if I could borrow or rent the tool.  The guy just gave it to me!

Some people are very friendly!

That was very nice of him, makes me wonder why he got rid of it, either he didn’t use it anymore or thought the same thing as John.

I second John's advice

Vice grips and a hammer are all you need (personal experience)
Good luck

The repairman who gave me the brake wrench told me that he hadn't used it in years and didn't anticipate needing it so it was mine!  I guess I caught him in a good mood!

You guys must be using the wrench incorrectly. I agree, vice grips and hammer works just fine, but the tool is mighty convenient. I wouldn’t go too far out of my way to get another wrench but I wouldn’t scrap it either.

They most certainly are.

OK

It's not about "using the tool incorrectly"... it's about using another option when the tool is no longer available. Some of us need a "good enough" solution to get the job done. So far, I've managed just fine without it.
