In Bellevue, WA. Supposedly going to the scrappy if nobody wants it.

Newer than 1966 since that’s when Maytag changed their logo and the overall styling of their machines and appliances.

Yes mid to late 80s, this oven came from Hardwick, who was never know for electric cooking appliances.

While somewhat functional, scrapping it would not be a big loss to the appliance world.

You could remove the "s" from "scrappy" and have a better description of the situation.

If the oven STILL WORKS-why replace it-or if not can it be repaired???I have an 1972 Hotpoint oven--still works fine-came with my house-only replace it when it truely dies and can't fix it.

The difference in quality between this oven and your Hotpoint is like the distance between New York and LA. I have Ranges from the BIG 3, Frigidaire, GE/Hotpoint and Westinghouse from the 1950s, 60s and 70s that are still quality pieces. There are other brands that will not even be in any kind of functional shape at one third of the age of these better brands who were pioneers in electric cooking. I hope that you continue to use and enjoy your 1972 Hotpoint for many years.

As I wrote about the terrors of Maytag Management's bad decisions, they bought the Hardwick range line at the time when the line needed updating so it was cheaper for Hardwick to just unload the stove manufacturing facility on people who had no idea about stove manufacturing or the history of it and remove their name from a dying brand than to modernize it.

And thats a

FACT!! Hardwick made decent gas ranges but their electrics were cheap cheap cheap, Same for Magic Chef The earlier comment is spot on, GE Westinghouse and Frigidaire made top quality ranges into the 70s,
