I got this old vacuum years ago on the advice of my sister because she really prefers these older canister cleaners to her new upright.

I haven't used it as much as I thought I would be would like to learn more about it. I haven't decided if I want to spend much time and money refreshing it or not. I have not found a model # on the body but if anyone knows these older units and can tell me, or provide a link to more information I'd welcome it. If memory is correct some are still refurbishing and using these models - is that correct?

I need to clean the power head brushes up but they still spin up when turned on. The main on/off switch can be touchy - it seems to have a small dead spot that doesn't turn on sometimes but other times it does fine. One of my favorite things is the very long electric cord that self retracts when done.

Looks like a Electrolux 1205 or a Olympia. Not really versed or Electrolux vacuums since I know more about Kirby’s than I do Electrolux.

The Lux is a Silverado. Hose is aftermarket and Power Nozzle has lost it's wrap around bumper. Parts are getting more and more scarce for these older machine, but a good vac shop can still service them! A Lux center can do even more! A new Lux hose isn't cheap!

My Electrolux is very similar. The local Aries/Electrolux store always has the type C bags I need but will bug you for a free tune-up. My Power Nozzle says Omniflo on it. I love the way it will shut off and pop the end open when the bag is full.

I agree with Greg here, but it's also a WAY better option to fix it up rather than buying a new Aerus/Electrolux canister. A brand new Lux canister in my humble and honest opinion is just WAY too overpriced for what they are. What you could do is you can contact Aerus Electrolux of Richmond, Virginia about shipping your whole Silverado out to them. And have them completely clean it up, lubricated, serviced, and replace any worn or broken parts. I just know that they do a fantastic job of restoring these old Electrolux canisters:)

Check this thread out on vacuumland.org, a user had his Lux rebuilt by an Aerus dealer and it looks like brand new now!
