Hello everyone...I want to ask on this forum something...My grandma used to have this certain washing machine model that I mentioned above in the subject, an AEG ÖKO_LAVAMAT 6650 sensortronic with UK Language and 1400 spin, from around 1991 to 2015. I assume it was the TOL model of the time as it seemed to be the only one with 1400 spin, and I think it was produced from 1991-1995 before the sensorlogics slowly replacing the mechanical timer AEG's. Ever since my grandma threw away her old AEG I've been trying to look for this washing machine, for ages. I can see that this specific model is very hard and rare to find and less common than any other AEG models of that series, like it might only be posted for sale anywhere once every few YEARS... I could find YT videos as well as more information about other models, such as the 6250 (mid-range model - apparently the most common and best selling model of that series, with 1000 spin), 6350 (1100 spin), 6450 (1200 spin), 6480 (1300 spin) as well as their "sibling" models (600 series) with different control panel layout (I mean the 625, 635, 645, etc). But not about the 665(0), you can only find some images of them online. I think it would be good to raise knowledge about the 665(0) models as well, as they were one of the earliest AEG washing machines to have 1400 spin, and also because I'm trying to find it for years...I want to be finally able to reach back in time and get something which had a significant impact on my childhood and made so many fond memories with it.

These machines were extremely good, they had a stainless steel tub, a cast iron crosspiece on the
back with massive drum bearings with proper sound insulation, and a substantial suspension consisting of 3 springs. The heater element was also considerably more powerful than modern machines and you could have an absolute flexibility for the temperature selection . These machines also had a traditional brushed motor, but gosh they were so powerful... AEG was nearly on the level of Miele, they were competing with each other and sometimes Miele would be behind AEG!

Sorry if I sound too awkward here, but this is my first ever post on this forum, apologies if I did or posted something wrong here...

Hi there & welcome to the group.

This sounds like a front loading machine, which I am not at all familiar with. But I enjoyed reading your post. I hope you get to find the dream machine of your childhood.

I am sure your story sounds very familiar & falls in line with most of the members here in this group. Of course, with a change in machine, or person who owned/used it.

My story was about an AVOCADO green HOOVER twin tub washer.

Again WELCOME to the group and I wish you the best of luck finding that AEG washer from your childhood.
🤞😊

Hello Costis,

The Öko Lavamat 6650 was higher up in the line, but it wasn't the TOL model, at least in some countries. It could have been the TOL model in Cyprus, I guess that all depended on AEG's marketing policies.

I added a few pictures of a Dutch model. I got these from an auction site. Here's the link:

www.onlineveilingmeester....

I had a 625 and a 6450. The 6450 was an improvement over the 625, IIRC the push buttons were less prone to breaking, I had to replace the unit behind the buttons on the 625.

Model numbers higher up the line started with 67 or 69. Some of them had a programme selector instead of a timer. Here's a video with a 6950

I had a Miele W715 connected next to a 6450, I must say the quality of the Miele was much better. But I always had a weak spot for AEG.

Hello guys, thanks for your replies! Yes, I know about the 6750 and 6950 sensortronics, but the 6650 was the TOL model of the mechanical timer washers. I don't care much about the 6750 & 6950 as they just lack this flexibility of temperatures and a mechanical timer and are simply boring for me because of this, that's why I counted the 6650 as the TOL model here ;)

Was about to say

That should have been the TOL timer model, but the electronic models were definetly higher end.

I think with that generation, on many cycles, AEG had the edge time wise over the competitors. I do also think that Mieles first fully electronic machines without any mechanical timer a tiny bit after these AEGs, but I might be wrong.
But AEG had to stretch the cycle times on later itterations aswell, to be fair...

With that basic design at least, AEG also had at least on 1500rpm model later on.
AEG was always a driving force in high spin speed washers - they are the only "affordable" brand today with a vast arry of models with 1600rpm.

Great machines for sure though! Already decently efficent, yet quick and versatile.

Hello Constiff

Welcome to the group.

Hopefully the pics below will have attached. They are taken from the AEG April 1995 brochure and contain the 6650.

I actually bought the 6555 in 1996 but regretted it and would have preferred the 6650. The 6555 was a good machine but used hardly any water. Also, I needed a delay timer from time to time and there was not a work around (plug timer) as the 6555 was electronic and you had to press start. I wish I'd bought the dial version as they are more flexible.

It lasted over 20 years and went to my mother who had it as her main machine. I replaced it with a Miele Premier Novo.

The old AEGs were superb machines before they were rolled into the same platform as the rest of Electrolux. They’re still decent machines but they’re nothing like what they once were.
