Came into possession of this fridge a few months back when we bought this old house. The freezer has always run a little warmer than I'd like, and I'd like to avoid buying a new one since these older appliances seem to last forever. Can't find anyone nearby that can work on it though.
I've tried changing the temperature dial in the refrigerator section and it does in fact lower the temps in both parts, but the fridge ends up too cold at that point.
However, I have somehow previously overlook a plate labeled'Freezer Cold Control' with a hole that seems like it should have a dial but does not. Popping the plate off, there also appears to just be a cavity behind it like the control units missing entirely.
I've looked and can't find any documentation on the fridge itself or info on parts that could go there.
Model is FPCI-16BAL. Just wondering if anyone else knows about it or if I should even bother and just sell it to buy something newer. I know nothing about the inner workings of a fridge.
The freezer cold control is not a control per se, but rather a damper that adjusts the flow of cold air from the freezer to the fridge (I believe). So if you adjust it, you should be able to bump up the freezer temp. I'm sure there are others here that can give more details.
