Hey all,

Some of you may remember me adopting this dishwasher this time last year. It was free and I replaced the pump impeller and a couple seals and it has served us well for one trip around the sun!

The other day I fired it up for a load and I noticed a loud whining noise that sounded like it was coming from the motor. I took it all apart last night and cleaned up some gunky/rusty spots in the motor which has seemed to help its annoying screaming drastically.

My questions now before I put it all back together is; is large this gasket/seal that goes around the motor mounting plate reusable or should I be looking online for a replacement? And should I be using some sort of sealant when I seat it back in the wash tub or do the clips that go on the motor at as enough force to seal th gasket? I did a quick google search and couldn't find anything...

I just want to make sure it is 100% waterproof before I throw the motor back on. I really hope the rust spots inside the motor windings, bearings, etc. were from it leaking before I bought it, but maybe there is a very small leak that has caused the motor to get rusty and noisy over the past year.

Any advice is appreciated! I desperately want to keep this thing alive!

Also, is there a Facebook Group devoted to this stuff? If not would anyone be interested in joining if I start one? It's quick and easy to post and comment, and a lot of these forum pages are now represented on FB so I thought I'd ask.
