Scantpear1985: ... if anything has excess wear in fabrics it would be larger loads with faster agitation because the heavy stuff up top has more downward force on the stuff that us [sic] against the fins ...Your position is that small loads are good at 180 spm agitation but large loads are better at 120 spm (does Perm Press reduce to 90 spm?) because they're heavier? |

This is why I am more partial to machines with long stroke agitation and optional wash and spin speeds I can select independently. Never had anything damaged in my Maytags along with my Whirlpool belt drive washer. Short stroke machines really aren’t that gentle on clothes unless you can select the wash and spin speeds independently.

Personally on SMALL LOADS ONLY. On my 1989 Kenmore 80 series. I personally put it on delicate wash. On small loads The turnover is just fine. Slow Agitation only sucks on full loads. My Whirlpool World washer. I just select Cottons/Heavy at 14 minutes instead of Cottons/Normal at 10 Minutes. @DADoEs I agree that longer agitation at slower speeds does work well. My AquaSmart is one of the best machines I have ever used. Same with my Intuitive and Calypso. Speaking of the Calypso. I'm going to pick up a matching electric dryer Tomorrow! Along with the washer but it's too far gone. I'm going to save every single part that's left on it. The appliance center wanted the console off of it.
