Hey guy’s currently restoring an old 735 Hoover top loader
It runs the cast iron transmission.
Unfortunately the main shaft has rusted out and I’m looking for a replacement shaft
Early models 600/700 series had a longer shaft than the 800/900 series I need a long shaft if anyone
Knows of one pre loved or new
Thanks

Similar to Blackstone?

Could you post a photo of the inside, so I can see if it is similar to the Blackstone washers here in the U.S. If so, I might have what you need.

Re photos

Hi blackstone, I don’t have the shaft I need near me at the moment but here are some photos
- inside the drum ( agitator sits on a brass gear at the top of shaft)
- the gearbox it’s self less the “shaft” I require.
- last a short shaft for later machines (looks the same but the one I need is longer)
Cheers
Mitch

Is This the Shaft You Need?

blackstone's profile picture
I'm not an expert on the Australian versions of the Blackstone machines (I always see differences when members post pictures), but that transmission is exactly the same. My pictures show the brand-new shaft that I have, next to a half-meter stick. Without looking at my old service manuals, I would say that this shaft might be the part that you need.

Any other Australian members have an opinion?

Fred

If You Need Another One......

there should be a shaft imbedded within this tree trunk. Many years ago, my father wedged a transmission between tree trunks, in order to loosen the bolts. Left it there. I'm thinking that the shaft should be well preserved!

That’s the one I recon !

Hey Fred that appears to be the shaft I require.
Measurement looks just all out spot on.
I did see some manual images you had posted and the drum and shaft set up is pretty much spot on.
That transmission in the tree is impressive and I bet that shaft is in better nick than mine haha
Cheers Mitch

I did a quick check on shipping cost to Australia. Minimum cost appears about $40; that would depend on packaging, and if I can keep it under 4 lbs. weight. Just a warning to you.

I'm not trying to make any money here; you could just pay for the shipping. Let me know if interested, and I will work on packaging.

email me with any questions.

Fred

Hey Fred I’m happy to pay for postage and your troubles,
I’m unsure if I’m able to contact you in a private message on this site
Cheers Mitch
