My mom's 29 year old Kenmore Dual Action has had the agitator dogs replaced twice.
The other day I noticed it was a bit sluggish turning but seem to right itself.
I then noticed the fabric softener was not emptying . Even after the last spin it would be still full.
I took it off and swirled it around and nothing came out.
It is completely plugged. I turned it upside down and shook out the water.
It was gross. Bits of wax or white fat the size of small kernels of corn started coming out. I soaked it in hot water and vinegar and the water will run out the bottom on one side.
I know the roto swirl cups would come apart to clean but does the dual action come apart? I tried to twist it but nothing happened.
What should I also try soaking it in?
Oddly enuff, the agitator started washing with no problem. Could the weight of the full dispenser keep it from turning?

At this point, I'd probably just replace the entire dispenser. They're relatively pretty cheap and on Amazon.

The dispenser should have been rinsed after each use, or after the last run when multiple successive loads are involved may be sufficient.  Occasional rinsing with HOT water is a good idea.
