Ive not added softener yet as it wont rinse properly with that awful liquigel.

So Il catch a pic of the rinse somewhere and add the softener when Its rinsed clear.

I might play about with adding some Olbas Oil somehow to Comfort Pure although I might need a fair bit to get a kick.
Im full of cold and want some nice fresh bedding for tonight.
Will have to dry via radiator I think. the dryer might set alight if I add Olbas Oil to the final rinse.

Nick

Hi Nick thanks for those pics.

Just out of interest, how long does it take to run a say 40 degrees cotton wash? My mum's Hotpoint did the load in under an hour. I wonder if the wash times were increased with later machines.

You may want to be careful drying on the radiator with the Olbas....I believe it has turpentine in it!

Rob

A 40*c wash is around the hour mark.

It was the later WMs that slightly increased by about 10 mins but that was about it. it was added to the rinse of all things with a touch longer in each rinse.

However the 60*c wash was longer. Our Wm62 did it in 1 hr 40 or so.
This takes about 1 hr 20

Maybe I will skip the Olbas then. I wish Comfort would bring out a "Breathe Easy" herbal softener. I would buy the lot....

Maybe some Rosemary or Clary Sage in it...

hmmm It onlt took 4 rinses to rinse clear so here we are with the Softener.

I had a cap left of Comf Pure left in the old bottle and I just poured an unspecified amount from the new bottle into the rinse fill up lol.

Am giving the Olbas oil a miss hehe.

Only dilemma is getting the washer to do a full 800rpm spin now..... its playing up and only seems to make it to 600rpm or thereabouts.

Its taking the mickey how wet stuff comes out without a couple of extra spins.

Nick

Oh yes, you definitely overdosed!! Not only with the detergent but also with the softener as it looks. How much detergent is there actually in that ball? Bed linens are relatively thin so they don't need a lot of detergent to begin with. I changed from Ariel liquid to Omo (UK Persil) tabs for my bed linens and I'm very happy with it. No extreme suds and excellent rinse result. And I only need one tab although our water overhere is rather hard.

Nick - nice pics! Couldn't help but notice how much detergent you were using though... no wonder you find liquigel difficult to rinse out!

BTW I've found bedlinen comes out quite soft without having to use fabric softener - not sure as to why!

In terms of cycle times, our WM64 washed for longer in the mainwash... a 40*C wash took about 1hour 20 versus 55 minutes on my nana's WM25. the rinses were longer on the WM64 too, but they were a joke and you had to end up doing the rinse cycles all over again if you wanted cleanly rinsed laundry with those awful WM50/60 machines.

Id say you were using about twice the liquigel you needed!!??

I normally use 75ml of the Sainsburys Perform liquid and thats fine - surely you dont need that much more Persil lol!

Dosage!!!

chestermikeuk's profile picture
Nick...just had a phone call from the "EarthWatch" people, saw the washer and reckoned it was 3 times over the dose needed.....I did plead your case but there`re on the way to tell you in person...lol

One of the independant dealers I worked with in 80`s had a test kitchen for demo`s etc...we set up three machines, Hotpoint Microprofile 1400, a Siemens 640 w/d and an AEG lavamat, we gave each a tablespoon of Persil Auto and set a load of whites/clothes in each, these machines had a 9lb/11lb washload, the AEG was outstanding with this amount of powder......its true , we dont need what it says on the packet!!!

Happy dosing, Mike
