Typical time or thermostatic auto-dry Whirlpool models with non-electronic controls (bi-metal thermostat) target 155°F (68°C) for high and swing a bit higher from residual heat dissipation when the element cycles off. An empty drum may swing 7°F to 10°F higher. Presence of clothes moderates the swing. Dry clothes will swing higher than wet. My F&P topload dryer targets (per service documentation) 149°F (65°C) with a thermistor. Diagnostic mode on the LCD AeroSmart model allows instantaneous reading-out of the temperature and it's always a bit below that target. No need to preheat. |
