LOL

In all honesty, this looks like a diamond in the rough. I bet it would clean up to near show quality with some elbow grease.

I think your right Dan. It’s mostly surface dirt, looks like everything is intact from what can be seen, and doesn’t look broken down, just stored for decades uncovered and filthy dirty. Andit has a pump too, a real plus.

Old fashioned laundry set up

Wringer washer and double sinks. You don't see that sort of thing often anymore.

Presuming Maytag wringer washer and those sinks are part of same church property being put up for the bid, some may wonder "why does a church have laundry facilities?"

Simple answer is the sisters or church women would care for altar linens. Also unless the rectory had it's own laundry facilities that linen and or also personal laundry of parish priest(s) would need to be done somewhere.

This appears to have been former Holy Ghost Church in Olyphant, PA, now Rescue & Restore Church: www.thevalleyadvantage.co...

Interesting that the archdiocese sold or otherwise transferred ownership of church without removing stained glass windows and other religious artifacts or relics.

Here when a RC church closes the archdiocese moves everything to a warehouse. From there things are stored until can be moved onto other RC churches around world.

Thank you for showing so much interest in the church of my youth.

Our diocese isn't totally clueless, they did remove the beautiful windows when the church was closed over 10 years ago and they've been in crates since then to save them from vandals and other barbarians. The diocese removed many other items too, the stations, the statues, the bells, etc.

The Maytag is in the former rectory.

Hammer has fallen and last time one checked Maytag washer nor sink received any bids.

Someone local ought to reach out to church or auction house and save that washer at least. We all know Maytag conventional washers are almost indestructible. *LOL* This and parts are still plentiful enough.

With some TLC and elbow grease that washer should scrub up well and give years more service.

On another note was glad to see all those stained glass windows sold and for very good money. New ministry gets funds for repair/restoration of building, and those wonderful pieces of art will find new homes where they will be loved and appreciated.

Friday at pick-up I hope to see the pastor, and if he will volunteer someone to help me move the Maytag I will buy it.

Should clean up well, but there are no casters on the machine.

The casters

All 4 casters are underneath the machine, but not sure what shape they're in. I was happy to see the agitator laying on its side in the tub. Hope that's a good sign. Looks like I should be able to pick her up next week.

Casters were likely removed to make washer more stable on that dirt floor. Maytag wringer washers can move about slightly even with locked casters. On that soft dirt floor even with resting on a wood plank something more may have been needed.

@ hobbyapocalypse

Good for you!

Glad to see yet another Maytag wringer washer saved.

Glad to see I’m not the only one who ended up rescuing a machine that I posted the ad for. Enjoy!
