I have a number of these style pumps in my parts box
www.ubuy.sl/product/4KSR1...
they are 4 port whirlpool pumps that i have for spares however i need to change out a pump that is for a model with a magic clean filter.

Can the two additional ports i believe they are designed for the re circulation of water through a waterfall filter, can they be blocked off at the pump or perhaps filled with water and put a pipe loop on it so that it can be used on the magic clean model?

the pump that is fitted is the incorrect type it is a 3 port version and it does not reverse the flow so the magic clean filter would not be doing its job properly, i have also worked out that is what would be causing the weird siphoning effect that i have noticed with this machine.

Yes you can just plug the two extra ports or attach a loop of hose between the two smaller ports, done this many times.

ok thanks John. Does the flow reverse during the washing and rinsing cycle like the 2 port version? going by the diagrams for the models with the magic clean lint filter models they use the pump flow to achieve this function. so water goes one way through the pump during wash and rinse and during neutral drain and spin the lever changes the water path to operate in the reverse direction so water can be pumped from the machine. I suspect it does.

The pump that is in there is the incorrect pump for the unit. it is a 3 port pump and the lever pulls a flap that covers the one port and allows water to flow through a single tiny port. it is blocked off however this pump would prevent the filter from working properly.

Pump shifting (of the flapper valve in it) is done via the agitation cam bar, not the spin bar.  Classic belt-drives close the pump drain path when in agitation, open it when not agitating.
