It would be interesting to see the whole washer. The tag says distributed by Northern Electric, so it would have been manufactured by another company.
Northern Electric was the Canadian counterpart to Western Electric in the US, and owned by AT&T until the early 50's. In the US, Western Electric got out of the electrical equipment distribution business in the 1920's when it split into two companies - Western Electric for telephone and sound system equipment, and Graybar Electric for electrical supplies and equipment.
In addition to telephone and sound equipment, Northern Electric distributed appliances made by several companies, including Westinghouse, and Universal (Landers, Frary and Clark). They were one of the largest distributors of lighting fixtures in Canada. The company later became Northern Telecom, then Nortel. Graybar Canada would be the successor to the electrical equipment division of Northern Electric.
