When the timer pauses in between washing (circulating the water inside the tank) and drain, does the motor come back on briefly to pump the water out? If not, you could have a bad timer. This could also be a problem for filling, although that may be a separate issue. Check to see that the drain hose and the port on the pump for the drain connection are clear and there is no clog or other obstruction for water to move through. For the never-ending fill, odds are, you have a bad water valve. If the valve seems to be working OK, you'll have another problem with the water level sensor & switch. There is a diaphram pressure switch in the bottom of the machine, under the stainless steel figure-eight cover. If you remove that, you will see it (round black rubber disc in a stainless steel frame) on the bottom right side of the tank. Check to make sure it's moving properly up and down, not torn or leaking and that the two wires on the micro-switch under the machine attached to the diaphram are connected. You can check continuity of the switch itself with a simple multi-meter. One of these should be the solution to the water valve issue - keep us posted! Welcome to the board - you have a great dishwasher find, the first design from Maytag circa 1969-1974. |
