FriGEmore washer

Looks like the old 3.1 cubic foot Frigidaire design also sold under the GE, Kenmore, White-Westinghouse (and possibly other) brand names. It is probably from the late '90s or early 2000s. I think these washers could have bearing issues and spider failures and I don't think the dryers were known to be great performers.

Hope she has good luck with them. People with specific experience with these will have to chime in regarding any tips for pre-emptive maintenance.

FRIGIDAIRE WASHER

I have this washer and can say it has been a good performer. I also had another one that I bought in the late 1990's that lasted until the motor finally gave out on it.
I've liked both of mine very much.

Dryer in Gas. Great performing machines love them.

I owned two of these and they were both very good machines.  The dryer worked well too.  In fact, I wish that I’d kept the last one I owned.  It was the model that had the controls at the back of the top.  I don’t like the new generation of FL’s at all.  But these Frigidaires used very little water, weren’t temperamental about going into a spin cycle, had a 1000 rpm spin so clothes dried quickly and even though the capacity was only 3.1 cu. I could still  wash cal king sized bedspreads and comforters with no problem.

Just like many things in life, hindsight is almost always 20/20.  If the machine your niece is considering is in good condition it could be a very good performer for her.  This set looks like it has been well taken care of.

Back in the late 90's, I purchased this set for a home I had just bought. The washer lasted about 6 years before the rear bearings failed. Frigidaire replaced the rear tub assembly, I had to pay the labor. The washer had very excellent washing performance, and the dryer was one of the early reversing models. I sold them with the house and bought an Electrolux set for my new home. The Electrolux washer also suffered from bearing failure after 7 years. Hmmm
