I've been hatching this one for over 2 years now... In late 2019, a FB friend posted about an old GE dishwasher that was in the kitchen of the house of a friend and would anyone be interested in it. I jumped on it and had planned to get the machine in spring of 2020... but the pandemic was declared, the borders shut, and I went nowhere until this year. I have made arrangements to finally get this dishwasher next week and it will be brought back to Ogden along with a few other toys that I'll be picking up on this trip.
My question: would anyone happen to have a set of installation instructions for one of these old GE 'standalone' dishwashers?
I recall that the dishwashers on the 'Electric Sink' models have a removable front panel, but I'd like to know how to remove the timer knob and the panel. I'm planning on taking a toolkit with me, but I'd like to know which kinds of screwdrivers I'm likely to need. Guessing the timer knob has a hex-head setscrew, that most cabinet screws will either be philips or slot, and that the machine will be bolted to the floor with lag bolts. It will be very interesing to see how the plumbing is done with one of these - I'm bringing a blowtorch for the gravity drain connection 'cause I'm figuring the bolts and connections are going to be rusty...
The picture of the machine is not terrific, but it will give you an idea which model it is.

But has not been used in a very long time. The person who I'm getting the machine from was told by their home inspector that it doesn't work, but I'd be surprised. I know I'm going to have some "fun" removing this one BUT given the chewed-up GE pull-outs and the 57 Whirlpool that was literally sawed in half to remove it that I have acquired over the years, I'd rather take my chances doing the removal of this one myself.... |

and good luck. The crossing protocols change next week, with some restrictions modified or eliminated altogether. Arrivecam wasn't that bad; don't know if you'll even need it next week. I went across in June using Arrivecam, for the first time since Covid, chasing the Connor Wringer, and it was simply wonderful to be in Canada again. There's a a fabulous bike trail I've ridden a few times, a former railroad line stretching from Fort Erie to Crystal Beach. Cheers to you and Christopher.

Dimensions for the Electric Sink, but maybe the plumbing and electric info is helpful. Not many details available, I'll continue to look..... |

The Arrivecan and the proof of vaccination requirement are over forever this coming Friday, as reported on the local news. It's a big deal here for the Buffalo, NY area because the Peace Bridge, which crosses the Niagara River, provides access to Ontario, Canada in minutes.
Bon Voyage, Paul! The Hamburg exit off the I- 90 NYS Thruway is minutes away from my house. I will email you my phone number. Call me if you'd like a pitstop on your way home. |
