Sears limited addtion kenmore set

Those machines are just beautiful but if those touch panels ever go out and they DO !! look out !! they can be 200 to 300 hundred dollars each, if you can find them !! thats why they were so limited the cost of replacement of the touch panels outweights the value of the machines

Does the price come down each time?

I had a Kitchen Aid dishwasher in Chicago with the same issue. It was a great machine and washed like crazy but the dealer told me if it failed the touch panel would cost close to $500 not including labor. I only paid about $800 for the dishwasher so I probably would have been better off to replace it if it died. I sold the condo 2 years ago and to the best of my knowledge it is still running just fine. It is now aobut 8 years old. I'll keep my fingers crossed for the new owners.

That set is on my dream list. If I could get them to ship, how much would shipping something like that cost?

These are definately machines to have for a Kenmore collector. Probably the last of the belt drives, and all the bells and whistles to boot.

Very nice Kenmore set.
Our Whirlpool DD electronic set from 1993 is still going strong. When we first got it everyone said that the controls won't last long before needing replacement, but ours have never had a problem.
I think that a lot of the problems with the electronic controls have to do with where the machine is placed. If it is in the laundry area in a garage I think it will not last as long as it would as if it were in a climate controlled laundry room in the house.
Kinda related story: A freind of ours had a laundry room in his garage. The metal door faced directly west. In the summer it would get VERY hot in the garage. The wife said that they have a dryer that dries only when IT wants to. Usually only at night. So they could do laundry during the day, but drying only at night. What was happening was the dryer was getting so hot from the garage temps that it thought it was overheating and would shut down. Finally they called in a repairman who replaced the overheat sensor and everything then worked fine. But they went like this for over a year before getting it fixed.

Neighbors who had an LFA9800 pair (the first Whirlpool electronic pair, a magazine ad PhotoShopped green rotates through POD occasionally), that's the problem they had to trigger replacement of the washer. The control board went bad in some way, a corroded trace I think it was. I remember the machine showed up at the Whirlpool dealer after I had parted ways with working there but had stopped by for a visit.
