Looks like the control knob on washer is missing though!

Yep.  The timer knob for the washer is indeed missing.  This seemed to be a common problem with the dials of this era, unfortunately.   I think I have a spare in my timer parts box if anyone goes for this!

The dryer is a little newer in that it does not have the shaded cabinet color anymore.

Good basic machines but you can see why whirlpool in Kenmore so greatly outsold GE hot point machines in this time.

These two machines are not close to the overall performance of a similar basic whirlpool pair in the mid 70s.

I'm starting to crave that dryer. 90 minutes of timed dry + a low setting which probably switches on the heaters off. Nice.

Any idea why the knob rotates counter clockwise vs clockwise?
