Obviously a Canadian Kenmore as I never seen controls like that on a US model.

For various reasons wringer (conventional) or semi-automatic washer market survived far longer post WWII world in Canada than down south (North America).

In USA housewives couldn't wait to get rid of wringer washers post WWII as tons of new automatics were coming out. They had been available before the war, but restrictions meant supply was limited. It wasn't helping that Consumer Reports and others had a long simmering hate by then against wringer washers.

Long story short this explains why on auction sites, estate sales, and elsewhere you routinely find tons of wringer or twin tub washers on offer in Canada.

Exciting discovery ...

...Launderess.

Sooo immensely interesting. Btw, quite right what you say about post WWII machines.

Never seen one quite like this B4. ...A beauty.

Really really retro vintage whatever we call it that's some superb collectible
which i will pass my turn because i have a lot of twinnies here at home, not to
mention literally a ton of records, films and books. Recently, the huge record collection
of an old buddy, who died of a heart attack (only at 61), made me buy several rarities
of 1960s-70s pop music. I begin to be in need of more shelf space, but will never
sacrifice an old vintage appliance for the sake of a few music recordings
(...even if music and stereo systems are actually my most beloved pastimes) !
