This was our old laundry set we used to have. From what I was told, my parents got this set for their old house somewhere in the early to mid 80s' (1984 I would say). They brought it with them when they moved in 1990 into the house that they live in now. In 1995, they bought our first log cabin. They brought this up there to use and bought a new GE set for the house. And in 2003, we sold the cabin in favor of a bigger one and left this set behind. My mom really liked that set, she told me she liked them better than the other they bought to replace them. I still wonder to myself of why they didn't brought the newer set up to the the cabin and kept the older set for the house, it also didn't really made much sense to me as it was almost a 5 hour drive up to the cabin. I think they could've just bought something closer nearby and brought them up to the cabin instead of haling this older set all the way from home. And we could've brought them to our bigger cabin since we had to buy a new set after the place got built. Anyways, I'm curious to know what models both the washer and dryer was from the video after the cabin got renovated in 1996. I'd also would like to know more details with this set, especially if the washer was a Filter-Flo or not. I honestly don't remember this set very much. So if anybody has pictures, please share them here. That would be awesome!

The information that I can get from the video is very limited, but that pair looks newer than 1984-ish to me. The consoles at that time were faux woodgrain-laden, but I don't think I see any woodgrain. In 1985 GE removed the woodgrain and featured aluminum/stainless looking accents on the console. Others might see better than I'm doing.
Not sure this helps you.

Hi Lawrence, I did some more digging online and I looked through pictures. I think there was some wood grain on the panels. But I'll get confirmation if these were bought before 1985 or not, hopefully they'd remember.
Regarding the toilet next to the washer and dryer, I honestly really liked that about the cabin. And I agree that it was a simple plumbing design even though it got very cold during the winters up there where it was harder to use the plumbing and that was one of the reasons why we sold the cabin in the first place. I think what would've been awesome at the other cabin was having a room like that where the toilet would be across from the washer and dryer, and I could just watch the Whirlpool Duets go instead of reading a newspaper or looking at the phone haha. But sadly our other cabin didn't had a room like that:( Though it still did had a fish cleaning sink next to the washer and dryer. |

Just been told and apparently you guys were right. My mom said they got the set a year or so later after my parents moved into their first home. Before then she was going to a laundromat. She also said that it didn't had wood grain on the panels. And the color wasn't white, it was more of a brown. Also Bob is probably right that it was a TOL set. When they first bought it, they got a discount because it had like a ding or a scratch on it. It was in fact a Filter-Flo model because I asked her if it had a filter and she said yes, she also said it had a basket where you'd put in clothes for a delicate wash. I never knew that was a thing because I don't know much about these older sets. By any chance would anyone have pictures of this set or at least know what model numbers they were? I'm now very curious to know what we had before, I would really appreciate it!

The washer looks like it's a WWA8600; the dryer looks like it's either a DDE9200 or a DDE8200, depending on the drying system it has (9200 would be electronic sensor control, 8200 would have automatic dry control).
Here are some quick pictures from the catalog. Not the best quality, but maybe helps with your questions.

I can't say for sure, but if they were sold as General Electric washers and dryers then I would assume that they matched the main models appearance-wise. However, in the case of sub-brands (think Hotpoint and JCPenny) the appearance was markedly different. So, if in 1984, Kmart retailed General Electric washers and dryers, the buyer might find model numbers unique to Kmart, but they would still look like the rest of the GE line.
Strictly my guess/opinion - others might think differently.
