Hi
As a new member, I would like to say hello and best wishes from Toronto to all of you.
I love all the photos on your site and am impressed by the enthusiasm and knowledge.
I am the owner of a pair of Eaton Viking appliances that have been in use since the 80’s. Eatons was a large department store chain in Canada. Their appliances were branded “Viking”, but were manufactured by GE. The washer is a “Filter Flo” model.
We love these machines and they have been solid workhorses for decades, and would like to keep them running.
Recently we were finding dark oily spots on our laundry. I have tracked it down to a faulty top seal on the centre shaft of the washer. I did this by removing the agitator and cleaning it inside, replacing it and doing a normal load with an old bedsheet. The sheet came out with oily marks. I looked inside the agitator and could see that oil escaped from the top of the centre shaft.
I have ordered what I think is the correct part (WH8X291).
Could anyone help me with instructions on the removal of the old seal and installation of the new one. I have searched long and hard, but cannot find any info.
