There was a thread a long time ago in which the question was: does the "warm" setting actually heat water. I can say from experience today by mistake my C50 DOES heat the water on the WARM setting. It was by mistake however. I started the Coffeemaster with usual cold water, went away and forgot about it for about 45 minuets. When I returned and found the coffee had never gone to the top, I put my hand on the bottom brewing unit and almost burned my hand on the outside of the unit. Today after these many years of using the coffeemaker I found out the hard way --mine does indeed "heat" the water on the Warm setting.

I remember reading the thread but it was never an issue with me as the coffee is removed after brewing and put into another vessel. It could be that this feature WAS removed at a later date but on mine the "warm" setting does and will keep the brewed coffee hot. You turn the switch one way to start the brew and after if goes to the top, it clicks, the light goes out and it is on the "warm" setting. Also as I found today if a turn the switch to the "warm" setting it takes a long time but it does heat the water or in most cases would be used to to ether keep the brewed coffee warm or reheat the coffee. Mine as I found today will not brew coffee on the warm setting.

It's been a number of decades, but IIRC the Coffeemaster that my parents had (likely a 1949 model) had a High and Low switch.  After brewing, it clicked over to the Low setting automatically, which kept the brew warm.

The Sunbeam failed in the mid to late '60s.  I'll always remember the weird smell of overheated metal.  It was replaced by a Corningware Electromatic percolator.

Sometimes when the thermostat for the low setting isn’t set correctly you can even boil water on the low/warm setting. I’ve owned 4 different C30’s in the past and they all kept the coffee very hot on the low setting and also worked just fine to reheat cold leftover coffee too. I would imagine that the C50’s work the same way too as you have discovered.

Eddie,
I was referring back to old thread 79346. I remember reading that thread and was sure my coffee master DID have a reheat setting but at the time had never used it. However I found out today it does indeed have a "warm" setting that heats the water. Found out the hard way by starting the sunbeam and turning the switch the wrong way! No fool like an old fool.
