I had one of those! Had to give it up when I moved. These are indeed very heavy.

There is something at the bottom that doesn’t belong there. A piece of vynil?

No, it doesn't. Wonder what that bit is and why someone placed it there in first place.

If same company, Acme was famous for their mangles (wringers). So it seems they may have saw which way wind was blowing and came out with spin driers.

This has been on ebay for ages, if it were not such mad price.

I would suggest that the vinyl is a substitute for a spinner mat.

There was also at least one Acme twin tub in the early to mid 1960s

Yes, that's correct. The twin tub was shown in the Dutch brochure I posted in this thread.
