Hi all, I need some help figuring out why the top piece auger on my Whirlpool washer is so wobbly during agitation, so much that it spills almost half the cup of softener when used? I have a brand new cam set in with the retainer ring on, everything is lined up correctly and it snaps together when putting the cam into the lower piece agitator stem. This machine has always had this going on the two years I’ve owned it, just doesn’t make any sense to me? I see videos of other machines like mine with the same exact agitator Around the same era, they don’t wobble during agitation at all, so I’m really confused and not sure what the heck to do. I have the original white thick plastic cam set, but doesn’t have the retainer ring anymore someone didn’t put it back together right before I owned this machine and they left that piece out, which I figured was why it was so wobbly and I had a new cam set laying around which is the clear one with the black retainer ring and I decided to give it a try and it’s far more wobbly with that one on compared to the white thick original one without the ring that it came with, now I know what your gonna ask “Why don’t you just put the ring from the new cam onto the old one?” Been there done that, it will not fit onto the old cam it’s ever so slightly wider than the new one and will not slide on.

I’m not sure where to go from here the wobble really drives me nuts, I know in the later models like the 2009 whirlpools had an updated lower piece stem and cam assembly for the agitator and it was completely smooth no wobbles whatsoever, maybe I’ll just buy that same agitator if I cannot figure this out it’s very annoying and a lot of softener gets wasted, and that stuff isn’t cheap anymore! Hope someone can recommend something, rather it just needs the original retainer ring or something. One thing to note, on the very inside of my lower agitator stem one of the two little ears where the cam set lines and snaps into is gone, leaving just one however as said the cam assembly’s still snap in and lock. Hope to figure this out, thanks all
