hello to all aw members,

in the next few days a plumber will be called in to change replace the washer faucets that hooks the washer for fill to the house pluming old faucets are the original since 1983 and suggested to my mom that we go with faucets with hammer arrstor to avoid pipes banging if washer enters spin or if i have to use for x reason even if i wash in cold water warm or hot the banging of pipes at start of fill when water mix and when fill for main wash is done

Other than a little green oxidation of the copper the existing plumbing looks fine.

Hammer arrestors are less of a "thing" today unless you buy really cheap appliances. Hammer does not occur during a spin cycle. It is due to valves that open and close immediately. Modern valves, almost all of them are slow close and slow open. This eliminates hammer in almost all situations except very high pressure supply lines.

Whomever the original plumber was on your house that soldered an NPT valve to the copper supply line was a complete hack. If I saw that in my house when it was built they would be back out putting in a proper NPT to solder connector or a problem slip type valve.

They also make inline (thread-on) water hammer arresters, which are simple to install and cost a lot less than a visit from the plumber. We use these on our old machines with fast-closing valves, and they helped quite a bit.

They're designed with swt inside and npt outside. I prefer npt adapters for serviceability but they're installed as intended.
