Hey guys, I had made a thread last week seeing if anyone knew anything additional about these new GE full size portables with the Bosch like stainless interior. I just got one and I noticed there are two round vents one on each side wall, left one is definitely for filling but the one on the right side of the tub is a little smaller and I have no idea what it’s for, steam I could only imagine since there is no other ventilation. But why on the side of the tub? Is this common on new machines? Extremely bizarre.

Anyways, I still have my powerclean and nothing happened to it however I came across a deal like no other for this machine it was two years old used, lady was selling it on marketplace because she moved and her new sink isn’t compatible. It has a slight exterior cosmetic ding on the left side which is completely unnoticeable and she just needed to rid it so I got it for less than a hundred and these retail brand new between $400-800 bucks. Very overpriced I’d say it’s not Bosch quality we all know that but is currently the most top end portable full size there is. Whirlpool clearly doesn’t feel like competing. I couldn’t pass down the deal so I did some researching and found nothing other than customer reviews which we’re mostly positive so I decided we would get it. I’ve had it for a week now and I’m extremely impressed considering I’m no fan of GE, or some of their Chinese made appliances which I believe are by Haier correct? I’m not too sure but this model is clearly not made by GE. I’ve been wanting to upgrade to something nicer for a while now my powerclean just couldn’t fit taller items in the lower rack and I wanted a stainless tall tub machine that was quieter and this machine is just that, it’s almost too silent, upper rack is adjustable and has a true sanitize option which has been taking white etching out of my glasses from the last two years of using my powerclean in our terrible city water. I am very happy so far. I was worried this model would alternate spray arms, to my surprise and shock it runs every arm at once just like I prefer and doesn’t nonsense around every arm has very strong pressure and doesn’t seem weak at all like I expected. It’s behavior is almost identical to my parents newer Maytag with the old wash system from 2015-2019 which is my favorite new machine. My only gripe is that the heavier cycles are SO LONG when choosing autosense or heavy plus one of the two steam options which I always use. The light wash which is 48 mins is awesome, and I’ve never had a dishwasher that thoroughly rinses the dishes this one does 3 rinses every cycle following the main wash and that’s necessary when your using very potent cascade pacs where it takes a few rinses to fully rinse it out. Another fantastic thing is this machine gets hot instantly from the Auto Hot Start, I believe it has a heater since there’s no exposed element on the floor. It also has a manual filter plus a food chopper. And no I will not get rid of my whirlpool, that is too much of a dishwashing legend for me to let go of and I don’t trust anyone else to provide the care that I give it I love it far too much to just give it away as if it’s nothing.

All in all I am extremely impressed with this new machine no regrets, was worth the time and effort hauling it to our place. The cleaning results are impeccable even on the light wash, this machines performance and cleaning ability is certainly just as good if not the exact same as the more expensive higher end Bosch and Whirlpools which I wasn’t expecting. I was so nervous guys, I thought I would be disappointed given the lack of information on this model but I was thoroughly impressed the first cleaning cycle I did testing it. It’s too early to say if I can recommend it yet. Anyways I figured I’d explain why I decided to get this since it’s out of no where and I wasn’t looking for a new one it just popped up at the right time while browsing marketplace bored. If anyone knows why there is a vent on the lower right side of the tub that would be great the manual doesn’t bring it up. You will see it within the photos I’ll add below if you zoom into the right side of the tub. Also FYI the machine was off it’s wheels at the time when I took these pics which is why it’s sitting lower than the counter and I have no idea why some of my pics are uploading sideways again. Thanks guys.

wash sounds and rinse aid

How does it sound empty compared to full? What rinse aid do you use? I prefer Cascade power dry.

They rate it at 54 decibels, not sure if that's supposed to be with a full load or empty I have no idea how they rate that, when its empty all you hear is the sloshing of water from all the jets which is always louder than a full load, you can hear how quick the lower arm rotates, and when its got a full load sometimes I forget its running Its so quiet I never have to turn the TV up anymore in the living room next to the kitchen and you barley can hear it whatsoever from any other room. This model has a whole metal cover under the unit, unlike my Whirlpool where the motor and all is exposed. This new machine also has a slight insulation blanket on it but its very thin for the portable encasing.

Ive been using store brand or Finish rinse aid, tried cascade a few times and they all did the same thing in my machine, I currently have Finish.

Dan, We have a Bosch, we had foaming like that when I tried Finish Jet Dry Turbo, when I went back to regular Jet Dry it was ok. It also foamed when I tried a Natural DW detergent. I use Finish Quantum Hard water formula pods. When the heater broke a few weeks ago, we also had foaming because the the water temp from the water heater was cooler than what Bosch heats up to at the final rinse. If your DW has an adjustment knob for the rinse dispenser, lower the dosage a little, maybe too much is being sprayed in at the time.

No it was just sudsy in the photo because it was he first pre rinse after filling the dispenser and a little bit was still on the door. Doesn’t even get sudsy from the final rinse with the rinse aid dose it’s been running flawlessly. And this one has no rinse aid setting, just like my whirlpool and I’ve been getting much better results from the new machine as far as residue is concerned
