Equator

I have an Equator combo. It works flawlessly. The Equator company is based in Texas. From their website you can download the specs and operating manual as well as a trouble shooting guide. The Equator is a copy of an Italian machine that has been marketed under names like Thor and Bendix. They are not well reviewed by local dealers. The new units sell for around $1,000 for the small unit and $1,300 for the larger. It can be purchased as vented or condensing. Most end up on RVs and boats.

I had this same exact Equator combo. I loved it. I was so stupid to give it up for the problem LG I have. The only advantage to the LG is it is bigger otherwise the Equator outshines it. Also they don't make this model Equator any longer. They are using the Quietline models that is a disappoitment. Best Of Luck with a real Gem

Ok..
I was curious to this as a good friend is moving into a 550 sq ft apartment with very little room and a washer/dryer hookup (mind you a 3rd floor)

Besides Equator and LG, who else?

Combo!

Actually their are not many combo makers. OH Bendix where are you? Asside from the LG most of them are smaller units. If I don't keep the LG because of service problems I will probably buy a Frigmore and live without a dryer. I can't believe that Frigidaire or Whirlpool won't produce a combo with the making of the Afinity and Duet.

Equator is still alive and well.Their headquarters are located in Houston,TX.and Atol (the owner and president) is a good friend of mine.Their address is www.washerdryer.com... and their email address is www.mail@washerdryer.com....

Their products are no longer contracted out. They opened a new factory of their own in China about 3 years ago. They now make a 220 volt, top loading, vented washer dryer combo(the Cobra)that has a 3.4 cu ft.capacity and is available in the U.S.!The cost is $2999.

I like the EdgeStar combo, and the Summit FL made in Slovenia (although I know nothing from those brands)...

The Haier FL is the same one I saw at the Liquidators, for $120 more!

Perhaps a used one? These tend to be very reasonably priced.

Thats an Italian Philco model. How old is it? the last machines we had of that design were 6-7 years ago. They did indeed also make earlier Bendix models before the Bendix name was aquired by the Electrolux group. Philco no longer exist and the last "Philcos" we had were rebaged Indesits :(.

Philco used to make Malber brand laundry appliances as well, at least IIRC that is the name on the tag inside the kick plate. All an all not bad units, but after Merloni switched sources, things went down hill IMHO.

Our old Malber lasted the better part of 10 years with no problems, seeing daily use on average.

You have a Philco!!!!

Italian machines, I bet yours makes a great Noise similar to my Hotpoint. my Ex Mother in Law had a RWD 1001 or something Philco that was really meaty with the motor noise, and was exactly the same as yours.

Nothing like the early Philcos my Nana had.

I hope it lasts long, the mother in laws died about 18 months ago and she is now lumbered with a 7KG LG she likes lol.
Each to their own I guess LOL
