This is a question that anyone with an Oasis/Cabrio might be able to answer - what is the water consumption on the normal cycle for these machines? It seems that to make A grade in Europe, machines need to use less than 10 litres per Kg - how far off is the Oasis/Cabrio?

The Whirlpool and Maytag top-loading washers sold in the UK are both rated at 'G' for wash performance - as bad as it gets...I wonder how the Oasis/Cabio would do - perhaps Whirlpool UK will consider importing it...I'd buy one!!

Hm...

Sears.ca says the max. water consumption of the 4.5 cu.ft. Kenmore Oasis is 36 imperial gallons (163 liters) and the min. consumption is 25 imp. gal. (113 liters).

The Fisher & Paykel AquaSmart TL manual actually contains consumption figures:

High Efficiency Cycles
8 kilo = 84 liters
5 kilo = 69 liters
3 kilo = 60 liters
1 kilo = 54 liters

IIRC the H.E. cycles use a series of spray rinses as default.

Don't know about the UK but Whirlpool washers and dryers are available via German eBay (the eBay shop by "Sabine & Bernd"). The newest models (Oasis, Cabrio...) will need to be ordered, however. Maybe check out ebay.co.uk

I wonder how the Oasis/Cabrio would do in an EU energy test - I guess not that well, unless there is a cycle that compares to a 60 degree cotton wash.

I contacted Fisher and Paykel UK about the eco-smart top loader, which looks like a great machine but they responded as follows:

"Sadly, our range of washing machines do not meet a number of European and UK regulatory requirements such as the harmonics issue highlighted. In layman's terms, harmonics is the level of "electronic noise" that is acceptable in the standards. There are several other European standards that would require considerable testing to ensure that our washing machines meet these standards. Sadly, as the European and UK markets are predominately front load markets the market size does not justify the resource required to meet these standards."

Perhaps if enough people as Whirlpool UK they will produce a 240volt version of the Cabrio? Otherwise I'll be stuck with my Bosch FL...
